“St. Luke’s is getting ahead on this because they would rather be ready for a threat that never comes than be unprepared and unready if bird flu comes to the Lehigh Valley and becomes widespread, Jahre said.
“The government is not the cavalry. You can’t rely on the government coming to save you. If they come in and they help you, that’s great, but we know that what we need to do when we see a problem is we better make sure that we are self-sufficient as much as we can be because by the time the government ends up dealing with it, it will frequently be either late or inappropriate…”
